Summary: dozens of artfully decorated pumpkins were on display at Look Park.

It’s official. It’s pumpkin season in New England! And, if you want to see some of the more artfully carved and decorated pumpkins head over to the Allura Pumpkin Show at Look Park!

Right from my arrival at Look Park, I was getting some real Halloween vibes. Due to the lack of lighting and the little lighting that did illuminate the park, I half expected to see Jason or Michael.

But, there’s no need to fear! This event was safe, friendly and spectacular!

There was even a train to transport the visitors around the park to see some of the decorations around the park.

But, the highlight of the event were the pumpkins! The event had 13 thematic scenes with different types of pumpkins. All of the pumpkins were foam based pumpkins.

One of the first themes of carved pumpkins were dogs!

Dogs weren’t the only animals carved into the pumpkins. There were a wide variety of animal designs carved on the pumpkins.

Of course, what would a Halloween pumpkin display be without some downright creepy and spooky pumpkins!?

But, not all of the pumpkins were scary. There were some cute pumpkins as well! But, only a few!

There were also some godess, troll, gnome and fairy themed pumpkins.

Of course, witches were also represented!

This pumpkin turned on and off!

There was also a cool owl display. And pumpkins carved with other birds on them.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a tribute one of my favorite movies when I was growing up. Yes, despite the flying monkeys. Luckily, there weren’t any carvings of the flying monkeys. That would be pure nightmare fuel.

But, my favorite display was the “Dia de Muertos” or “Dia de los Muertos) pumpkins. On “Dia de Muertos”, which is celebrated the day from October 31 to Nov.2, people paint their faces to resemble a Calavera (sugar skull) to honor and remember deceased loved ones. The sculptors did a great job of recreating these painted faces.

I hope these pumpkins helped get you into the Halloween spirit! I still have lots of photos from my Halloween adventures I will share after the big day! Until then, have a happy, safe and (slightly) scary Halloween!

Hi I'm Wayne. Welcome to my blog. I am a true New Englander through and through. I love everything about New England. I especially love discovering new places in New England and sharing my experiences with everyone. I tend to focus on the more unique and lesser known places and things in New England on my blog. Oh yeah, and I love dogs. I always try to include at least one dog in each of my blog posts. I discovered my love of photography a couple of years ago. I know, I got a late start. Now, I photograph anything that seems out of the ordinary, interesting, beautiful and/or unique. And I have noticed how every person, place or thing I photograph has a story behind it or him or her. I don't just photograph things or people or animals. I try to get their background, history or as much information as possible to give the subject more context and meaning. It's interesting how one simple photograph can evoke so much. I am currently using a Nikon D3200 "beginner's camera." Even though there are better cameras on the market, and I will upgrade some time, I love how it functions (usually) and it has served me well. The great thing about my blog is you don't have to be from New England, or even like New England to like my blog (although I've never met anyone who doesn't). All you have to like is to see and read about new or interesting places and things. Hopefully, you'll join me on my many adventures in New England! View all posts by New England Nomad
