2023 Zombie Walk (Salem, MA)

Date Of Event: Oct. 7, 2023

Location: Salem, MA (about 30 mins northeast of Boston, MA)

Summary: Dozens of zombies were in Salem, MA for the annual Zombie Walk.

Zombies, zombie fighters and an assortment of other spooky characters took center stage in Salem MA earlier this month.

The walk began at Salem Commons and continued throughout the downtown area.

Yelling, screaming and making other “zombie-like” noises were encouraged.

Each year, there seems to be more zombies than the previous year and this year’s walk was no different. What really stood out was the variety of costumes.

Not all of the zombies were scary or angry, though. A few of them were just happy to be part of the walk!

The zombies have left Salem…for now. But, they’ll be back next October!

Location: Salem, MA (about 45 mins northeast of Boston, MA and 1 hour southeast of Concord, NH)

Summary: An assortment of zombies, mad scientists and other costumed revelers roamed the streets of Salem, MA in the annual Salem Zombie Walk

The annual Salem Zombie Walk in Salem, MA, has quickly become one of the most popular events in October.

There were young zombies, which are both the creepiest and cutest for me to see!

Although the event is called the “zombie walk”, there weren’t just zombies at the event. There were werewolves and mad doctors among other spooky characters

The zombies began their walk at Salem Commons in Washington Square. They continued throughout the heart of downtown Salem, shrieking, gyrating and moaning the entire way.

It’s always nice to see familiar, friendly faces at these events. Throughout the years, I have attended and posted blogs about the past few zombie walks and I often see familiar faces there. This zombie is a regular at the yearly events and he always has a monster with him. I hope to see him and all the other zombies next year!

Zombies were all over Salem last weekend!  And I don’t mean the people with their eyes glued to their cellphone screens.

Zombies, young and old, came to the Commons to spook the public.

Jason brought a guest to the walk. But he or she wasn’t moving much.

There were also some zombie dogs at the event.

Jason was there to say hi to the victims, I mean visitors.

The Zombie Walk is a family friendly event.  After all, the family that stalks together stays together.

But, fear not, there were also zombie fighters at the walk.  They look a little outnumbered if you ask me.  That’s the thing.  Most of the participants prefer to dress as zombies or other creepy characters.

Salem being Salem there were many other people dressed up for the Halloween season.

Maybe this doctor and queen can help save us from the zombies!

Or maybe these foxes can help save us!

Or maybe this is a job for this Wonder Dog!

The talented Leann from Making Faces By LeeAnn was there to help everyone look their spookiest.

After a quick game of kickball, the zombies took the streets of Salem (the route went up New Liberty St to Essex St, down Artists Row, to the wharf and back to the Common if you’re familiar with the area).

I haven’t heard of any incidents but keep your eyes open if you do go to Salem.  They could be anywhere!

Below are some videos from the zombie walk.

The zombies have invaded Salem, MA.  And I don’t just mean the ones engrossed with their phone screens wandering through the streets.

No, these zombies are participants in the annual Salem Zombie Walk.

There were zombies of all ages, attire and degrees of scariness.  It’s never too early to get into the Halloween spirit and these people were definitely in the spirit of the season!

But, my favorite zombies have to be the families and children who have dressed up for the walk.  After all, the families that stalk together stay together.

There’s nothing cuter than “zombie kids!”

The zombies arrived in a variety of different vehicles.  “Witch Taxi.”  How appropriate.  Was her broom broken?

After a quick game of zombie kickball, they all got lined up and began the walk.

Although there weren’t any dogs in the zombie walk (although they are welcome), I did see these cute dogs on the way to the park.

Gatsby is a 1 year and 3 month old Golden Retriever.

Baloo (named after the character in The Jungle Book) is a 5 year old Pomeranian.

These two friends watched the parade from the window of their home.  Perhaps I’ll see you next year…if the zombies don’t get you first!

Below are some videos from the festivities at the zombie walk.
