Driving home from Balance Rock State Park, I happened upon Lake Onota This is what is so great about New England, and really any area of the country. You can find the most beautiful places at the most unexpected moments.
A popular fishing spot, Lake Onota is a 617 acre pond located in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It flows into the Housatonic River which eventually drains into Long Island Sound. Fishermen and women and boaters flock to Lake Onota for the bass, trout, walleye and crappie (yes they even fish for crappie fish).
A roadway bisects the lake. Of course, typical of New England weather, while it was very cloudy on one side, the other side had nary a cloud.

Dogs like Lake Onota as well. I met Becca, a happy 9 year old golden retriever,there.

I discovered my love of photography a couple of years ago. I know, I got a late start. Now, I photograph anything that seems out of the ordinary, interesting, beautiful and/or unique. And I have noticed how every person, place or thing I photograph has a story behind it or him or her. I don't just photograph things or people or animals. I try to get their background, history or as much information as possible to give the subject more context and meaning. It's interesting how one simple photograph can evoke so much.
I am currently using a Nikon D3200 "beginner's camera." Even though there are better cameras on the market, and I will upgrade some time, I love how it functions (usually) and it has served me well.
The great thing about my blog is you don't have to be from New England, or even like New England to like my blog (although I've never met anyone who doesn't). All you have to like is to see and read about new or interesting places and things.

Cute chipmunk! I have never got that close. Well, only once, but that one was a spoiled beggar in the canyon 🙂

Thank you! He was quite the ham. I think that since the wildlife is so used to being fed there some of them are pretty friendly.

Better fed than hungry. It is a park I guess. Where would they get food? A couple of peanuts won’t do any harm.

Me too! Oh, and by the way, yesterday I saw a Bengal Fox running over the fields! I studied it with my binoculars! 😊

That is awesome! 🙂 Becca’s mom said an eagle frequents Lake Onota. Unfortunately I didn’t see the eagle or any other birds. I think there were too many people there and they scared her away.

Thank you for visiting my blog! I have unfortunately only been to Massachusetts once(so far) but my God it is beautiful! I was lucky enough to have a weekend in Provincetown/ Cape Cod. I immediately decided that I wanted to live there.

Not a problem! And believe me, I would love to return. At the time I was living in NYC(Queens) and upon seeing the clear blue skies, the beach grass, and the rolling ocean waves.. I was ready to high tail it out of there! :p

Yes I agree. I just love waters. Being an island girl myself, the sea just makes me happy and I forget all my worries with just a plunge into the ocean. :))
